Leaving JB and moving to KL

I havent been bloggin in ages! Was busy leaving my old job, then beginning a new one and moving from Johor Bahru to Kuala Lumpur. I have been jalan-jalan here and there even more since I moved to KL. Went to rnewly-opened restaurants, checking out spas and beauty salons, and discovering KL once more.

I lived in Ampang in 2009 for 6 months. Then went back to my hometown-JB for 2 years. Somehow, KL managed to grab me back and now Im living 5 minutes away from Midvalley. Yikes!

Since this weekend most of the KL roads are closed and traffic jams everywhere due to planned protests and riots and whatnots, perhaps I'll jalan-jalan away from KL and discover Selangor. Perhaps Sunway Lagoon, Genting, Bukit Tinggi.. Hmm.. Weekends are fun. Stay safe you olls!

Tips on Bali : Shopping @ Pasar Ubud

Oh my its been a month since I've updated my blog. Been a tad busy with my work life.. Anyhow, I owe myself articles on Bali! I'll update more photos soon, but here's a thing or two on shopping in Pasar Ubud.

  1. Start your shopping early in the morning after a heavy breakfast. This is because Balinese believe that the first customer who buys from em, will give them good luck so they will let you bargain very low as long as you buy something from em. If the first customer goes in their shop and not buy anything, they believe it will bring em bad luck (low business) for the whole day. Why heavy breakfast? You wont have any time to eat afterwards coz ur soo busy buying the entire Bali!
  2. Do not touch anything unless you are almost certain that you wana buy it. Once you look at something, the shop owner will start lowering the price and when you touch their items they assume that you will definitely buy it. But when you decide not to buy it, they will get iritated and some hassle you and force you to buy it. So no touching touching ok?
  3. Wear comfortable clothes that wont make you sweat too much. Ubud is hot. The sun is almost always out and about. So make sure you wear something comfy and light to prevent from over sweating. This is the time to make use of your summer dress and flip flops.
  4. Water! Bring drinking water with you always as it is hot and you do not wana get dehydrated. And if you get hungry often like me, do bring along snacks..
  5. Create a shopping list! Please do make a list of things you wana buy and things that are optional cos you may run outta chaching in no time and without a list, you may go off track and forget what you really need. SO make a list and do not forget to bring it on the shopping spree.
So good luck shopping in Pasar Ubud. I bought dresses, fancy beaded handbags, scarfs, fabrics, Bali souvenirs (keychains, handycraft boxes, I Heart Bali bags), handmade soaps, and loads and loads and loads more!

Aya's Warning: Beware of crazy motorcyclists!

Here's a warning for you guys jalan-jalan at KL/ Selangor area. Beware of suspicious motorcyclists as there have been many incidents involving em throwing liquid (believed to be acid) at pedestrians. Seriously dah tak ada kerja seh  these people...

3 days to Bali and I havent packed yet!

Yes its true. I have yet to pack my stuff! They should make a movie after me, entitled 'The Procrastinator' (suddenly The Terminator theme song in my head).

Anyway, this morning I had a sudden panic. I thought my passport dah expired. I was so so worried. Went to the place where I keep my passport and pheeuw.. It expires in April 2014. Seriously people, check your passport's lifetime before you travel. This is to avoid unnecessary panic and sweat that I went through.

The passport drama aside, I would like to reveal my accommodations for the 5 nights in Bali (mainly in Ubud). We'll be staying at Viceroy Bali, Five Elements and Harris Resort. Super duper psyched! Here are some pictures from the websites. In a week's time, I'll have my own pictures of these places. Yay!
